Geeks, nerds, fanboys and fangirls of all shapes, sizes and ages came out in “force” for Central Texas College’s 7th annual GeekFest.
GeekFest is a geeky fantasy come true for many. It’s not every day that you can spot Kylo Ren, Sailor Moon, and Captain Jack Sparrow hanging out and having a good time. GeekFest grows every year, and this year was no exception. The event was held from Aug 12-14 at CTC and spanned from the Mayborn Science Theater to the Student Center and Anderson Campus Center. Even the outside areas in-between were filled with geek-themed activities. The event was family friendly and geared toward pleasing every kind of geek from the youngest fans to the oldest. Activities included costume contests, cosplay, video game tournaments, various booths, film screenings, workshops, and a plethora of other activities.
“I think GeekFest is a great idea,” said Kathy Rivera who brought her children Luis and Aryana Ramirez to the event. “It helps me connect with them, and I like that it’s in a safe setting.”
