Copperas Cove Optimist Club inducts new members

The Copperas Cove Optimist International Club met on June 16. President Sandor Vegh opened the meeting. Club Member Frank Somera Jr. offered the invocation and Store Manager Triss Lemire shared the progress of the Optimist Club Secondhand Thrift Store located in Cove Terrace Shopping Center. The Not for Profit Store is open Friday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The store sells donated items such as clothes, kitchen ware, toys and furniture for reasonable prices.
“The store serves families in need and works with local schools,” President Sandor Vegh told members. “The club helps with youth sports and assist disaster victims.” This year the club donated to the Miracle Network, Scott and White’s Children Hospital, Senior Center Bingo, Copperas Cove City Parks & Recreation Football, Copperas Cove Public Library, Copperas Cove High School Student scholarships and Boys and Girls Club’s “Music at the Gap”.
Following the opening statements, President Sandor Vegh inducted Susan Ayres and Anthony Smith as new members. As part Pharmacyof the induction Ayres and Smith were asked to recite the Optimist Creed. Vegh gave the newest club members a kit and membership pin.
