During the May 27 Noon Exchange Club Meeting, the guest speaker, Past District Vice President Mike Blount, shared the many achievements of the Copperas Cove High School’s Excel Club. Under the sponsorship of EXCEL Club Advisor Charles Lyons, Club Advisor Dorothy Lyons and Faculty Advisor Winston Vasquez, the club has completed 21 community service projects.
Several projects include painting curbs at the Exchange Sunshine Home, volunteering at the annual community wide Feast of Sharing Thanksgiving dInner, assisting at the Mayfest 2016 Color run to raise money for child abuse prevention and ringing the bell for Salvation Army.
“The club has logged in over 800 volunteers and will complete additional volunteer hours over the summer by donating time to My Brother’s House,” Blount said. According to Blount, the club continues to grow. “Currently, the club has 30 members of which 28 will be returning the next school year”.
