Prior to kickoff of the annual Blue and Gold scrimmage, the Dawgs received a word from one of Cove’s most famous alumni Charles “Peanut” Tillman. Tillman who returned to Cove to help promote his new book and sign a few autographs shared of the struggles he faced and the development he went through in middle school.
The two-time all pro, NFL Walter Payton Man of the year thanked the team and some 1500 fans in attendance for allowing him to come back and be apart of the tradition in Bulldawg football.
“I played football here, went to school here and I am very thankful to be back in Copperas Cove,” said Tillman. “Middle school can be a trying time. I encourage you all to listen to your coaches and the direction they give. My book is about the things I learned and the people that influenced me during my time in middle school. I wouldn’t be where I am if I didn’t have the support I had.”
