The days of students creating a paper airplane to fly across the classroom to disrupt a lesson have changed dramatically, and students are actually encouraged to build the paper contraptions all in the name of science.
Aerodynamics involving paper airplanes were just one of nearly a dozen events in which students competed in Copperas Cove ISD’s first Science Olympiad. Students were able to compete in competitions such as Water Rockets, Tennis Ball Catapult, Pentathlon, Wildlife Safari, Reflection Relay, Barge Building, Picture This, Write It/Do It, Circuit Wizardry, and Aerodynamics. Clements/Parsons Elementary 5th grader Gabriella Harper enjoyed the myriad of events.
“The pentathlon’s questions were easy, but the running was very challenging,” she said.
