The Network is a group of local citizens and business owners who are trying to gather enough signatures on a petition to place the option for the sale of liquor and mixed alcoholic beverages in Copperas Cove on the November 2016 ballot.
As of May 9, the team had collected and verified 1,430 signatures with the voter registration roster, according to petition team leader Mitch Lofton. On Saturday, the group collected 20 more signatures at H-E-B Plus! and 34 additional signatures outside Donlie McMullin Real Estate in downtown Copperas Cove, adding to those a total of 79 signatures collected on Sunday at those locations.
The team, with the magic number of 1,467 verified signatures already likely reached, doesn’t plan to stop their efforts. Their goal is to exceed the number of signatures required by law to put the liquor option on the November 2016 ballot.
