WAXAHACHIE – The Copperas Cove girls’ soccer team knew they had their hands full facing the team that finished as runners up to the No. 1 team in the state in the opening round of the playoffs.
For the first 31 minutes and 16 seconds, the Lady Dawgs (8-8-5, 6-4-2 in District 12-6A) were overwhelmed by the speed and precision of the attack from the Rockwall Lady Jackets (15-3-4, 11-2-1 in District 11-6A).
Rockwall’s Lauren Cox kept slipping behind the defense of Copperas Cove to find perfectly placed passing awaiting her. She scored goals in the 3rd minute, the 7th minute and the 18th minute for a first-half hat trick and a 3-0 Lady Jackets’ lead.
