Schuetzle Wayne Schuetzle

Wayne D. Schuetzle, SFC, (Ret.), age 85, of Kempner passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2016 in Temple. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 14, 2016 at Clear Creek Baptist Church, 3350 FM 2657 in Kempner. Burial will follow with Full Military Honors at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen. Visitation will be from 3-5 PM Sunday at Scott’s Funeral Home in Copperas Cove.

 

Wayne was the first born son of John and Mary Schnaible Schuetzle in Mound City, South Dakota on April 27, 1930. He attended school in Herried, SD before joining the United States Army in 1948 just shy of his 18th birthday, with his mothers permission. Wayne served his country until 1970. His tours included Korea and Vietnam. Wayne met Jewell Bryan on a blind date while stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri and it was love at first sight for him. They later married on June 7, 1952 in Salem, AR. After retirement, he enjoyed the farm life and raising his cattle. Everyone who knew him will miss his orneriness, his teasing and his loyal friendship. Wayne was a member of Clear Creek Baptist Church and a member of Mount Hiram Lodge #595 in Copperas Cove.

 

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; twin daughters; and one sister, Bernice Schieck.

 

Wayne is survived by his wife, Jewell Schuetzle; children, Norma Goulette of Spring, TX, John Schuetzle and wife, Nancy of Houston, TX, David Schuetzle and wife, Karri of Deer Park, TX; three brothers, Clyde Schuetzle, Roger Schuetzle and Lyle Schuetzle; four sisters, Janice Hilt, Eunice Swenson, Yvonne Bucklin, Peggy Furher; grandchildren, Julie Laha and husband, Scott, Chelsea Palis and husband, James, Haley Schuetzle, Karli Schuetzle and Tyler Cashiola; and 3 great grandchildren.

 

The family would like to express their appreciation to The Pulmonary Critical Care Unit of the Central Texas Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care System in Temple. Also to Dr. Sikka, Dr. Baht, and their assistant Peggy, who went above and beyond to care for Wayne. The family also wants to thank the nurses on the 5th floor at the VA and to the Veterans Hospice Health Care System. Also to his many friends who loved and supported him through his illness. He cared and enjoyed all of you so very much.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Clear Creek Baptist Church or the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, 2222 Welborn St. Dallas, TX 75219.
