Cove soccer resumes district slate with Killeen tonight

The Copperas Cove boys’ and girls’ soccer teams will get back to district action tonight after enjoying a bye to close out the first round of district action on Friday.
The Lady Dawgs (2-1-2 in District 12-6A) will travel to Killeen to take on the Lady Roos while the Bulldawgs (1-2-2) will play host to the Roos. The Lady Dawgs varsity will begin at 7 p.m. and the boys’ will begin at 7:30.
Lady Dawgs open softball season at South Texas Kickoff
Play time is over and it’s time for serious business for the Copperas Cove Lady Dawgs’ softball team.
After an extended scrimmage schedule, the Lady Dawgs will kick off their 2016 campaign under third-year coach Bryan Waller this weekend at the South Texas Kickoff Tournament in Seguin. The Lady Dawgs will then travel to Waco on Tuesday to face the University Lady Trojans before finishing out a truncated non-district slate at the Round Rock Tournament next weekend.
The Lady Dawgs wil kick off District 12-6A play at Killeen on March 1.
Former Bulldawg seeing action for Crusaders
Former Bulldawgs’ standout Ty Johnson is seeing some action for the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor baseball team.
Johnson carries a .250 batting average and a .375 slugging percentage in the four games he’s played of the Crusaders’ six games thus far. Johnson also had one appearance on the mound where he surrendered one hit while fanning three batters in 1 2/3 innings.
