Cove downs Midway 53-50 to keep playoff hopes alive

Legacy.
That word conjures up visions of sports greats throughout the generations but, on Friday for head coach Billy White Jr. and his senior class, it simply meant giving everything for the team. They knew a loss would likely end any hopes of a playoff berth and, despite losing by 31 points in the first matchup, they would have to down Midway to keep those hopes alive.
The Copperas Cove Bulldawgs basketball team preserved that legacy on Friday with a tough 53-50 win over the Panthers to remain in the playoff chase.
“It feels great,” said White. “It was a must-win game for us. The kids stepped up and played the way they needed to play to get the must-win.”
