WWII veteran awarded Legion of Honour Medal
By DAVID J. HARDIN
Sacrifice, bravery, strength and longevity describe the life of World War II veteran and CSM (Ret.) William Crutcher Hatton.
A ceremony was held Thursday afternoon to award Hatton with the French Legion of Honour Medal.
Hatton served in the United States Army for 30 years. During WWII, Hatton was among those who landed in France during the first wave of the D-Day invasion through southern France. He landed under fire as a part of that first amphibious assault of the Seventh Army in an operation known as Dragoon, on August 15, 1944.
