Heidi's Bakery, a baking tradition since 1989
By DAVID MORRIS
As a young boy in Germany Ralph Spriggs learned to bake alongside his mother Margit to provide for his family. Now as a veteran baker, Ralph bakes because he loves it. The Spriggs family, hailing from Augsburg, owns and operates Heidi’s German Bakery nestled in the heart of the Town Square Shopping Center bake more than 5,000 cookies at a time for sale in the family bakery.
“In Germany you see the same customers day after day, they would come to the bakery and get their breads, then head to the meat market and get their meats for the evening meal and make everything fresh for their family,” said Ralph. “In the United States we don’t have that type of tradition but we have a lot of repeat customers that return to the bakery time and time again.”
