CTC Fine Arts presents concert violinist Jennifer Jackson

The Central Texas College (CTC) Fine Arts department will host its fall semester guest artist performance on Monday, November 23. Featured artist is violinist Jennifer Morette Jackson. Accompanying Jackson on piano will be Elizabeth Palko, CTC staff accompanist. The concert will be held in the campus LBJ Fine Arts Auditorium (Bldg. 112) at 7:30 p.m.
Born and raised in New Zealand, Jackson has studied violin since the age of four. As a freelance musician in her home country, Jackson played concerts with Ray Charles, Rod Stewart, Il Divo and Amici the Opera Band. She was a featured soloist with the Hawke’s Bay and Wellington Chamber Orchestras and played first violin with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, Vector Wellington Orchestra, Wellington Chamber Orchestra, Hawke’s Bay Orchestra, New Zealand Symphony National Youth Orchestra and various opera and musical theater ensembles.
In the U.S., Jackson served as the concertmaster of the New Jersey City University orchestra and led the Baroque Chamber Ensemble in its opera productions. She was assistant principal violin with the New Jersey Philharmonic Orchestra performing at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, principal second violin with the Camerata Orchestra at Merkin Hall, first violin with the New York Metro Chamber Orchestra and was a member of several chamber ensembles in the New York metropolitan area.
Jackson then played with the Las Vegas Philharmonic, the Henderson Symphony Orchestra and Opera Las Vegas. She has also performed with Barbra Streisand, Stevie Wonder, John Legend, Kelly Rowland, Natalie Cole, Nelly Furtardo, Cee Lo Green, Quincy Jones, Dave Koz, Celtic Woman, Gloria Estefan, Andrea Bocelli, Carole King, Ricky Martin, Jordin Sparks, Rita Moreno and for the Latin Grammy Awards ceremony.
Jennifer currently resides in Texas with her husband, David. She plays with the Temple and Waco symphony orchestras and is employed as a string specialist, coach and teacher for the Killeen and Belton School districts.
Tickets for the guest artist performance are $5 at the door and proceeds benefit the CTC Concert Series Music scholarship fund. Free childcare will be provided by members of the CTC Child Development Center.
