Noon Exchange hears from Pink Warrior Angels founder

The Noon Exchange Club of Copperas Cove met on October 9 at Lil Tex Restaurant. President Dennis Ayres called the meeting to order and Club Member Bill Minton offered the invocation. Club Member Robert Krei led the Pledge of Allegiance. President Dennis Ayres asked for volunteers to participate in the October 24 Make a Difference Day at the Exchange Sunshine Home. Volunteers will be doing ground work which includes painting, cutting trees and trimming bushes. The club will provide donuts at 8:30 a.m. and the work will begin at 9 a.m. A barbeque lunch will be served at 11:30. The apartments are located at 1103 Leonhard, CCHS Excel Club Advisor Charles Lyons announced the date for the next Excel meeting which will take place in the Library Meeting Room. During the scheduled meeting Excel Club members will discuss future projects. Members will also discuss officer positions. Club Member Marilynn Bell was then awarded the Exchangite of the Quarter for her dedication and hard work. Club Member Charles Lyons was the Exchangite of the Third Quarter during the October 9 Noon Exchange Club Meeting. Lyons is the CCHS Excel Club Advisor. Marilynn Bell Introduced Guest Speaker Julie Moser, the founder of Pink Warrior Angels which is a local non-profit organization that supports woman with breast cancer and breast cancer survivors. The organization has scheduled several fund raisers. Pink Warrior Angels offer chemo care kits, gas cards, and grocery cards. They also cut the grass, doggy sit, and baby sit. The next event is “Make a Difference 5K” on Oct 24 from 8 a.m. to noon. The club is searching for sponsors. There is also a Pink Out game on October 16 at the Copperas Cove Bulldawg game. The Lampasas Fire Department is also supporting the Pink Warrior Angels. The Fire Department is having a 5K and the Pink Warrior Angels will be the recipients. Following the presentation, President Dennis Ayres asked members to consider being a volunteer for the Feast of Sharing on November 19 at the Copperas Cove Civic Center at 6 p.m. Last year the event fed 580 people and had 100 volunteers. Big Daddy’s BBQ and Caterer will prepare the complete Thanksgiving meal. HEB will provide pies and whipped cream. Bush’s Chicken will supply the tea. Seven members from Gatesville Exchange Club visited the Noon Exchange Club of Copperas Cove and claimed the Traveling Gavel. The Traveling Gavel provides an opportunity to have members from one club visit another club. The meeting closed with the reading of Covenant of Service led by Club Member Paul Inman.
