At the Wildflower Country Club in Temple on Tuesday, at the 16th Annual Partner of the Year Luncheon, H-E-B employees gathered for a lunch to celebrate the accomplishments of 27 exceptional Partners (employees) from its stores and warehouse teams throughout Central Texas. The Partner of the Year award honors those who demonstrate H-E-B’s “Bold Promise” throughout the year. Attendees were entertained with a live music performance by Jenna McDaniel. McDaniel, who is currently ranked number one on the local country charts, shared her love of songwriting and music with guests with a private show.
“H-E-B embraces the fearless and daring spirit of its Partners and bestows this award on those who have demonstrated such spirit and uphold the H-E-B Bold Promise: H-E-B Partners taking a stand together to build the greatest retailing company. It is a commitment each Partner at H-E-B makes every day and in every decision and action they take.” said Tamara Jones of H-E-B public affairs, in a press release. “Non-management individuals were nominated by fellow Partners and selected by H-E-B’s Heart of Texas Diversity Council based on their accountability to uphold H-E-B’s ‘Bold Promise’ and had previously been selected by their store’s management team as ‘Partner of the Month’ within the last year.”
Mike Chatman, H-E-B, Director of Warehousing and Transportation, was the keynote speaker. Chatman spoke about the accomplishments of H-E-B and future plans and endeavors this past year and the coming year. “Character is doing what is right, when nobody is looking.” commented Chatman.
“It is an honor to just be nominated by my peers and fellow partners, that felt like I did something outside of what I do. I am in shock. I think it is a privilege to hold the title of Partner of the Year.” said Kim Cooper, Partner of the Year 2015, H-E-B, Harker Heights. “I will enjoy my reign until next September, when some other partner will get the award. Unbelievable, for my partners to look at me like this. I am just humbled.”
Ed Page, regional director, H-E-B, remarked. “I am just so appreciative I work with a great group of folks. In today’s world there are so many reasons to “opt out”. Today is about making them feel important to their store and even in San Antonio at headquarters. These folks are selected by their peers and I am pleased to work with a great group of folks.”
Winners of the Partner of the Year award from local stores and warehouse teams included: Joe Beato of Copperas Cove; Keaton Kelarek of Belton; George Schoppe of Gatesville; Kim Cooper of Harker Heights; Emma Shelton and Julia Gordon of Killeen; Amanda Redmond of Lampasas; Anna Chavez, Melissa Arjon and Patrick Cannon of Temple.
