Norma “Bunny” Joyce Deakin
Norma Deakin, age 70,of Lampasas, passed away Friday September 18, 2015 at her residence. Funeral Services will be at 1PM, Thursday, September 24, 2015 at Scott’s Funeral Home of Copperas Cove with burial following at 3 PM at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Bunny was born November 20, 1944 in Pekin, Illinois to the late Alfred Wrench and Jeannette Henderson Wrench. She married Ronald Eugene Deakin on January 15, 1963 in Tumwater, Washington. She was a career military wife for 20 years and a loving and wonderful mother to our children. Ron and Bunny’s Army travels took their family all over the world, ending in Copperas Cove, Texas where Ron retired. Bunny worked several jobs during her life but in her eyes, the most important job was being a mom. Working was just a way to pay the bills, but being a mother was God’s gift to her and to her family. Bunny is survived by her husband, of 52 years, Ronald Deakin; daughters, Ronda and husband, Bobby Ellis of Zachary, LA, Dorena and husband, Mike Akin of Bullard, TX, Cathy and husband, Shane Knighton Whittier, CA; son, Gregory and wife, Paula Deakin of Kempner, TX.; sister, Audrey Sanders of McAllen, TX; grandchildren Kristin, Stacy, Nicole, Scott, Kyle, Randy, Cassandra, R. J., Cassidy, Alex and Gracelyn; great grandchildren, Michael, Katelyn, Amber, Tyrin, and Brooklyn. Pallbearers will be: Greg Deakin, Billy Sweitzer, Richard Coughlin, Mike Akin, Shane Knighton and David Pemberton Honorary Pallbearer: Keith Wessels The family would like to send a special thank you to the Staff of Rollins Brook Community Hospital and New Century Hospice for their compassionate care and love shown to Norma.
