Recognitions fill the September meeting of the CCISD board

Copperas Cove ISD held its regular monthly board meeting on Tuesday evening. The meeting was packed because although there were a few items on the agenda, the most important were recognitions.
After the Pledge of Allegiance, and the invocation, Wendy Sledd, Public Information Officer for Copperas Cove ISD started to announce the recognitions.
The first recognition went to those who were instrumental in the “Stuff the Bus” event which collected over $20,000 in school supplies.
The catalyst for the event was Star Group - Veterans Helping Veterans. Other community organizations recognized included Metroplex, HEB, Mount Sinai #42 Masonic Order, 40/8 Veterans Group, Wal-Mart. Also recognized for their participation for the Stuff the Bus event were multiple athletic groups and clubs from Copperas Cove ISD, including the Copperas Cove High School and Copperas Cove Junior High School Copperettes, SC Lee Starlettes, Clementa-Parsons Elementary SchooL and Williams-Ledger Elementary School Kids Care Clubs, Future Farmers of America, DECA, Senior Class Officers from Copperas Cove High School, National Honor Society, TAFE, along with the Rabbit Fest Royalty.
Student groups were also recognized for their participation during the Copperas Cove ISD Convocation to include the Martin Walker Elementary Honor Choir, CCHS Thespian Club, Texas Association of Future Educators, Copperettes and CCHS cheerleaders.
During the last part of the meeting, the board accepted the certification of unopposed candidates for the CCISD school board, and approved the order canceling the November 3 rrustee election, declaring each unopposed candidate elected to the office.
The board also approved the following items: Proposed revisions to the Board Policy EIE (Local) - Academic Achievement: Retention and Promotion; Proposed revisions to board policy DHE (Local) - Employee Standards of Conduct - Searches, and Drug/Alcohol Testing. Finally, the board approved Proposed revisions to the Board Policy DNA (Local) - Performance Appraisal: Evaluation of Teachers.
