School has just begun, but teachers and staff at Mae Stevens Early Learning Academy have gradually been incorporating fire safety in the classroom in preparation for the monthly fire drill. The pre-kindergarten students have been practicing listening to the sound of a fire alarm, lining up safely, playing eye-spy down the hallways looking for fire alarms and exits and walking out to their safe spot. Earlier this month, the students were tested on these safety skills. At the end of the drill, all staff held up green signs signaling that all students were safe and accounted for.
