Pageant returns to Krist Kindl Markt
Special to Leader-Press
Like jolly ol’ Saint Nicholas who faithfully returns every holiday season to grant Christmas wishes of good girls and boys, a piece of tradition is returning to the Krist Kindl Markt with the reappearance of the pageant.
Early registration for the pageant opens today, with an entry fee of $35, which goes up to $45 after October 1.
Young Miss Rabbit Fest Carleigh Ross is spearheading the effort as a fundraising event for her platform of service during her reign which is drawing awareness for and funds to fight the deadly disease of cancer.
“This exciting return to tradition is a charity pageant that will have all proceeds donated to the American Cancer Society in support of its tremendous reach from patient services to education, family support and so much more,” Ross said. “As 2015 Young Miss Rabbit Fest, I am supporting this great cause throughout the year and plan to raise $15,000 for charity. The pageant is the second step toward that goal.”
Ross also designed “Adjust Your Crown” T-shirts which are available for $15 at Sporty-B on Main Street and Refresh Spa and Boutique on Ave. D. All proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society.
The Miss Krist Kindl Pageant welcomes girls and women from infants to seniors to compete for the crown on Saturday, December 5, 10 a.m. on the Krist Kindl Markt stage during the annual festival downtown. Titleholders may participate in the Copperas Cove Christmas Parade at 3 p.m. following the pageant.
“Simply by entering, each pageant contestant will support the fight against cancer in this exciting event to kick off the holiday season,” Ross said. “We can come together to make a difference in the fight against cancer and find the cure.”
Ross has worked closely with the American Cancer Society through Relay for Life for the past two years and will also host a St. Patrick’s 5K Shamrock Run in March to reach her goal of $15,000 by mid-May.
Pageant applications and information are available by visiting www.winthistogether.org or the Copperas Cove Chamber of Commerce. The final entry deadline is November 20.
