Former engineer turned watercolor artist to have reception
Cove Leader-Press Jan Neumann spent her first career as an engineer, drafting plans for laying telephonecables for businesses and housing developments in the Copperas Cove and Killeen area, but now the Kempner mother of three, grandmother of nine, and new great-grandmother of one works primarily in one of her first loves, watercolor painting. “I first became interesting in painting when I was 12 years old,” Neumann said. However, life had other plans and Jan found herself married at a young age to her husband—before he deployed overseas due to the Vietnam draft. A year later, she had the first of three daughters and spent the early years with her children as a stay-at-home mother. “When my youngest started school, that’s when I started back (to school),” she added. Fast forward to a time when Neumann enrolled through Central Texas College, received her G.E.D. and then earned her associates degree in drafting and design
