The Copperas Cove Brewers were the last of the Copperas Cove youth baseball/ softball teams alive in the 2015 Texas Teen- Age playoffs, but that run ended Wednesday evening at the hands of the Ennis Rangers during the 14-team 15-and-under Texas Teen- Age State Tournament in Colorado City. The Brewers were put in a compromising position after just one outing. A tough loss to the Stephenville Mongooses in the opening round, landed the Brewers in the loser’s bracket with a tough road ahead to win the title. The Brewers kept their hopes alive with a win over the Lovelady Lions on Wednesday morning, but saw those hopes dashed Wednesday evening when they were ousted from the tournament by the Ennis Rangers. The Rangers went on to defeat the Ballinger Elite to set up a loser’s bracket semifinal against their city rival Ennis Cubs. The Brownwood Lions and Dublin Astros were the only teams left alive in the winner’s bracket as of press time Thursday. The Brewers finished eighth out of 14 teams and concludes the Copperas Cove Recreation Youth League season. The Brewers finish their season with an 11-2 overall record.
