Noon Exchange Club donates $5,000 to Boys & Girls Club

The Noon Exchange Club of Copperas Cove met on June 12 at Lil Tex Restaurant. President Sandor Vegh opened the meeting, and Bill Minton offered the invocation. Board Member James Tatum asked members to join in the pledge. President Sandor Vegh then asked for any announcements for the good of Exchange. District Vice President Mike Blount shared information related to the Boys and Girls Club Music at the Gap. The Noon Exchange has reserved ickets and several members will be attending the event. Music at the Gap starts at 6 p.m.on June 20 and takes place at Ogletree Gap. Several bands will provide entertainment. Frankly Country band will open the night, followed by Catfish Daniels. Then, The Voice Season 4 finalist Holly Tucker will finish out the evening. The menu includes catfish, hush puppies, beans, cole slaw and tea. The Boys and Girls Club will have a booth set up to sell water. Ice chests are welcome. Blount then discussed details about the Annual Officers and Board of Directors Installation Dinner that will take place at Texas Land and Cattle in Killeen on June 26 at
6:30 p.m. Following the installation, the club will distribute checks to four organizations that support the National Exchange Club’s mission of Child Abuse Prevention. Organizations receiving the checks from the Noon Exchange of Copperas Cove include Hope Pregnancy Center, Communities in Schools, Families in Crisis, Aware Central Texas. Charter members will also be recognized during the dinner. Charter members include: Frances Thomas, Ernest Remedies, Bud Owsley, Dr. Parker Bogue, Pat Thomas. Barbara Gividen. Following the installation dinner news, President Elect Dennis Ayres gave a re-cap of the Mayfest Color Run 5K Volksmarch held in May. Overall, it was a successful event. Money from the Mayfest Color Run 5K Volksmarch will be donated to organizations within the local area with a primary goal of Child Abuse Prevention. Ayres recognized JT Tatum and Inez Faison for including the Crusaders AAU youth basketball teams. Sandor Vegh then presented a check for $5,000 to the Boys and Girls Club on behalf of the Noon Exchange Club. Boys and Girls Club Director Bobby
Krei accepted the check and expressed sincere gratitude. Vice President of Communications Susan Ayres introduced guest speaker Wendy Sledd. Sledd serves as Copperas Cove ISD’s Public Information Officer, coordinator fr Rabbit Fest Pageant and CASA representative in the Bell and Coryell County. She began her presentation by thanking the Noon Exchange Club of Copperas Cove for their ongoing support and investments in the lives of children. Sledd listed the many accomplishments of the Rabbit Fest queens, which included participating in community volunteer hours and promoting individual platforms that often require public speaking. Sledd then passed out small flyers with facts and statistics related to child abuse. She also donates her time and works on behalf of the children by taking on cases as a Court Appointed Special Advocate or CASA. Board Member Angela Fields then led the Child Abuse Prevention Raffle. The meeting closed with District Vice President Mike Blount asking members to recite the Exchange Covenant of Service.
