Cove Leader-Press The City of Copperas Cove, the
Copperas Cove Chamber of Commerce and the Copperas Cove Economic Development Corporation will roll out the red carpet for residents on for the 2015 State of the City event. The presentation will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Cinergy Cinemas, located at 402 Constitution Drive. Those who attend will get to see what the city’s been up to for the past year, along with getting a peek of what’s coming down the road. Then from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m., residents are also invited to attend the 2015 “Meet the City” at the Copperas Cove Civic Center, located at 1206 West Avenue B. The family friendly, interactive event features booths from each department of the city. “Those who have attended past events left with a better understanding of their local government, and baggies full of snacks, treats, and special handouts,” said Kevin Keller, the city’s public information officer. “We encourage parents to take a few hours off from work, gather the children following school, and head on over to the Civic Center.” Those who attend will learn such things as recycling tips, how the water distribution system operates, finance and budget, and more. There will also be interactive displays with various city equipment and vehicles, to include police and fire displays. The event sponsor is Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam, Inc. Engineering, which has worked on wastewater and drainage projects for the city, along with the city’s wastewater and drought contingency plans, and the models for lift stations and wastewater treatment. Wednesday’s events come on the heels of the city’s annual report for 2014, which includes information about city events, completed projects, along with city-related information and how the city spent its budget last year.
