The Bulldawgs jumped right in the fire with a trip to the 12th Annual McDonald’s Texas Invitational over the weekend. The tournament pits 80 of the top boys and girls teams in Texas against one another in a three-day tournament. The Bulldawgs (2-4) began the tournament with a tough 47-34 loss to Aldine Westfield and an 81-73 loss to Richardson in the Beverly Hills Intermediate Pool on Thursday. Cove rallied to outscore Richardson 42-34 in the second half, but a 30-16 advantage in the second quarter and 47-31 first half gave Richardson the edge they need. The Bulldawgs last another close contest against San Antonio Clark 62-61 in the Division I Bronze Bracket to open Friday’s action. Cove then fell to No. 21 Rockwall in the Bronze Consolation Bracket before responding with a huge 70-46 Houston Westside in the Bronze Consolation third-place game.
