Kellie Daniel, also known as Lady Saliyya bint Khalid ibn Hamdun, came to Copperas Cove Wednesday evening from the Barony of Bryn Gwlad, to teach about the centuries’ old art of medieval illumination and calligraphy at the Copperas Cove Library. Hailing from the Austin area, Daniel has studied the art form and works as a scribe in Bryn Gwlad, the Austin area group of the Society for Creative Anarchronism. The idea of painting and writing elaborate pages might be daunting to some, but Daniel assured even beginners it could be done, showing an example of a brand-new scribes’ work.
