Cove Leader-Press 20 caring members of the community volunteered a few hours of their time to help make Copperas Cove a more beautiful place. Each spring, Keep Copperas Cove Beautiful (KCCB) chooses a few waterways to help clean up. As a group, 20 volunteers collected 21 trash bags full of litter and one bag of recyclables from the waterways. They also collected a bicycle tire, plywood, and a car oil pan cover. The total weight of the garbage collected was 220 pounds. KCCB coordinated the volunteer event which ran Saturday morning from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Water, donuts, and free t-shirts were provided to participants in the cleanup. Volunteers met at the small waterway near Town Square Shopping Center and dispersed from there to the waterway areas at Heritage Park and Bible Way Baptist Ministries Church. Rabbit Fest pageant winners helped clean up the waterway at Town Square. Trash bags, gloves, pickers, and waders were provided to the volunteers to assist with the task.
