40 years ago, in the Copperas Cove Leader
Craftsmen began restoration work on the stained glass windows at the 70-year old First Baptist Church.
About 340 Copperas Cove high school seniors received their diplomas in a rare indoor ceremony, which was held at the gymnasium.
50 years ago, in the Copperas Cove Press
About 45 Covites attended the fish fry at the Bluestem Lake Resort to welcome new members of the chamber of commerce. Special guests included Mayor and Mrs. George Leonhard, City Manager and Mrs. John Carlton, Dr. and Mrs. Luis Mr. Marton Jr., president of Central Texas College, Dean and Mrs. Kenneth Walker of Central Texas College.
Leon Dewald and Lewis Dewald received degrees from Southwest Texas State in San Marcos. Both are presently employed by Dewald Lumber Company.
60 years ago, in the Copperas Cove Courier
Mrs. Annette P. Tetchens, a teacher at Copperas Cove, has been awarded a fellowship to attend the National Science Foundation Summer Institute at West Texas State College for the second year in a row. The institute runs for 12 weeks.
Adams Heart o’ Texas Food Store had a 5-lb. bag of Imperial pure cane sugar on sale for 39 cents. Elgin Oleo was 10 cents for one pound.
