Daniel Jose Dickson and Tammy Lynn Vanormer were arrested last Friday morning in the 700 block of Hill Street by Copperas Cove police and charged with forgery of a government document, namely United States currency.

Dickson and Vanormer’s arrests came about after an investigation began by Copperas Cove police resulted in a search warrant being executed at their residence.

According to the arrest affidavit, upon search of the home, there were some “apparent counterfeit bills in the trash can. Some were printed and cut out, while others were still on the paper that they were printed on.”

“Apparent” counterfeit $20 bills were also found on the couch and in the home’s master bedroom, with a counterfeit $10 bill found on the nightstand.

“There was a multitude of printers removed from the residence and there were various containers of printer ink located in the house,” the arrest affidavits for both Dickson and Vanormer stated.

Additionally, officers found Dickson’s identification along with “syringes and various small plastic baggies that are consistent with what drug dealers use to package narcotics.”

Another individual, Andrew Ray Camps, was arrested by Copperas Cove police last Thursday in the 500 block of East Business 190, also for a warrant of forgery of United States currency.

The allegations of counterfeiting arose when a driver for Cove Taxi received 11 counterfeit one-dollar bills during the early morning hours of April 10, when he drove two females and one male from the Relax Inn on Business 190 to the 600 block of Hill Street. The male passenger paid for the fare, and all the bills had the same serial number. They were also passed at Stripes convenience store the same morning.

Krystal Diana Chalkley, Camps’ girlfriend, was named as a suspect in another counterfeiting case, and said she had received the bills from a male she only knew as “Cracker.” Camps, the male in the taxi with her, was the one who allegedly passed the one-dollar counterfeit bills to the taxi driver. Chalkley was interviewed by police while she was in jail for a different charge.

Camps also faces charges of forgery of a government document, namely a Texas motor vehicle registration certificate along with temporary tags for a 2003 Lincoln SUV.

Mitchell Alan Martin and Faith Hope Abrams were arrested at the same time as Dickson and Vanormer at the Hill Street residence on charges of possession of a controlled substance.

Dickson also had warrants for Copperas Cove municipal court capias pro fines for failure to maintain financial responsibility, water supply not properly connected; a warrant for no proof of financial responsibility; and two Lampasas capias pro fines for expired inspection and no driver license. Vanormer had a municipal court capias pro fine for failure to maintain financial responsibility.

Both Dickson and Camps remain in the Coryell County jail.
