Young Connor Hedge is going through trials and hardships that nobody should have to go through, least of all a 5-year-old child, but House Creek Elementary, CCISD and local businesses and individuals have rallied together to help make sure that he is able to enjoy the time he has left to its fullest.
When Connor was just 18 months old, he was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma, an aggressive pediatric cancer. He beat it, and was cancer free for almost a year, but sadly has since relapsed. Connor has undergone several chemotherapy and radiation treatments, major surgery, a craniotomy, MIGB therapy, and other treatments. Still, Connor doesn’t let any of that get him down. Connor’s condition may be terminal, but that doesn’t mean he cannot enjoy his life, and many are banding together to make sure he has as much fun as possible.
Connor Hedge celebrated his 6th birthday Friday night at MAKS Family Fun & Event Center in Copperas Cove. The event center donated a room for the event, along with pizza, soda, and play time for the kids. Furthermore, from Friday on, MAKS has pledged to make semi-annual contributions towards the fight against cancer. They will donate 10 percent of the proceeds from every cheese pizza sold, 20 percent of the proceeds from each party booked in the “Connor’s Light” room, and 10 percent of the proceeds from the Jurassic World Game.
