The City of Copperas Cove Solid Waste Department is hosting a fall cleanup tomorrow from 8 a.m. until noon at the Solid Waste Department, located at 2605 S. FM 116.
Through this free cleanup on Saturday, residents can dispose of junk and bulky items without putting them in the regular trash collection and incurring possible fees.
City residents and businesses (not including contractors) are welcome to bring household trash and junk, brush and yard waste in brown leaf bags—not trash bags, old appliances, for disposal at no charge.
Refrigerators, air conditioners and freezers must have had the compressors removed.
Residents are welcome to bring up to five off-the-rim passenger tires to dispose of for free, as well as up to five gallons of used cooking oil.
Recycling items are also welcome, to include scrap metal, boxes, aluminum cans, newspaper and inserts, steel cans, and plastics #1-#7, but no plastic grocery bags.
Also, the event does not include the disposal of hazardous waste, to include chemicals, paint, automotive oil or antifreeze.
Proof of residency is required and city utility customers are limited to two trips. For more information, contact the Solid Waste Department at (254) 547-4242.
