Republican gubernatorial candidate making stop in Copperas Cove

Texas Republican gubernatorial candidate Allen West (Lt. Col., Ret.) will be paying a visit to Copperas Cove on Sunday.
According to West's social media page, he's scheduled to be at Monty’s Old School BBQ, located at 412 E. Avenue D, at 11 a.m.
Other Republican candidates running for offices in Coryell County will also be in attendance.
The retired Lt. Col. most recently was Republican Party Chair for the state of Texas in 2020. The former Florida Congressman served for more than 21 years in the United States Army, from 1983-2004. After his retirement from the Army in 2004, Allen taught high school in South Florida for a year before volunteering and deploying to Afghanistan as a civilian military adviser to the Afghan army, an assignment he finished in November 2007.
West holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and two Master’s degrees, one from Kansas State University and another from the US Army Command and General Staff Officers College.

He is the former Executive Director of the National Center for Policy Analysis in Dallas Texas, and former Director of the Booker T. Washington Initiative at the Texas Public Policy Foundation.
West, along with a lineup of other candidates including Paul Belew, Danny Harrison, Kandy Kaye Horn, Don Huffines, Rick Perry, and Chad Prather are challenging incumbent Gov. Greg Abbott. The primary winner will advance to face the winning Democratic candidate in the November 2022 election.
Early voting for the March 1 primary, which begins Feb. 14.
