Pink Warrior Angels Central Texas is hosting its annual Pink Warrior Dash 5K Run/Walk, which kicks off at 9 a.m at City Park.
This year, the event will start and end near City Park Pool, with the route winding throughout City Park. There will be music, vendors, entertainment and prizes.
Registration for the 5K Run/Walk is $30 and has been online, but will be held on site, with registration opening at 7:30 a.m. the day of the event. Each participant will receive a race participation medal, bib, and neck gaiter.
This year’s theme is the hashtag #whatsyourcolor, which relates to the different cancer diagnoses each having their own “color” for a ribbon.
The goal is to raise $15,000 to help provide scholarships, financial aid, and chemo care kits for patients during their cancer journey. According to the organization’s annual impact report, Pink Warrior Angels of Central Texas distributed more than $25,000 in support to 140 applicants in 2020. It also awarded five college-bound students with $6,600 in scholarships.
More than 644 individuals volunteered with the organization in 2020.
Last year’s Pink Warrior Dash was a virtual-only event and raised a total of $8,200.
