Copperas Cove’s HomeBase was decked out in pink Saturday with breast cancer awareness-themed vendors and entertainment as they teamed up with the Pink Warrior Angels for their 7th annual Pink Block Party.

The event started at 10 a.m. and ran until about 2 p.m. During the event, HomeBase also invited customers to round up their change which was also donated to the Pink Warrior Angels. Throughout the event, raffles were held for various goodies, and all of the money raised went towards the Pink Warrior Angels efforts of supporting those undergoing cancer treatment.

This year’s Pink Block Party featured performances by the Copperas Cove High School cheerleaders and Copperettes as well as the junior high school’s dancers and cheerleaders.

Julie Moser, founder of Pink Warrior Angels, said that the schools are always big supporters of their events.

She was excited by how much their event has grown since they started holding it at HomeBase seven years ago.

“I love that they love us so much,” said Moser. “The community is amazing.”

Timothy Palmer attended the event with his three children, Elizabeth (13), Jackson (7), and Savannah (4) Palmer. Elizabeth performed with the cheerleaders during the event.

“I didn’t know it was this big,” said Palmer. “It’s awesome that HomeBase does this. It’s great that the community comes together like this to raise awareness.”

HomeBase has supported the event each year providing space inside and outside of the store for the various vendors, volunteers, and entertainment.

“The best thing is just the involvement and participation of the community,” said Mark Dremel, district manager for HomeBase.

Dremel’s wife is a cancer survivor. He said that most people have experienced cancer in some form in their lives. Dremel said that he likes that the Pink Warrior Angels are a local group so people get to see the impact of their donations.

“This is home grown. It’s more personal,” said Dremel. “You get to see the impact.”
