A man is dead after a Saturday evening two-vehicle collision in the 200 block of West Business Highway 190.
The incident occurred at approximately 6:42 p.m. near the intersection of West Business Highway 190 and F.M. 116 and Georgetown Road. Officers restricted access to Business 190 from Georgetown Road for several hours as they worked the scenes.
According to a Monday press release from the Copperas Cove Police Department, officers and EMS personnel began performing life-saving measures on Robert Bikoski, but he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by Coryell County Justice of the Peace John Guinn.
Witnesses on scene told responding officers that the driver of the other vehicle fled the scene, but a short time later the driver, identified as 31-year-old Daniel Christopher Burcham, was seen crossing the street by one of the witnesses.
“Daniel’s speech was slurred and he appeared to be under the influence of intoxication,” Sgt. Kevin Miller with the CCPD stated in the press release. “Daniel was subsequently arrested and transported to the Copperas Cove jail.”
Burcham was charged with intoxication manslaughter and arraigned by Coryell County Justice of the Peace Bill Price, and Burcham’s bond was set at $100,000. The Copperas Cove Police Department is continuing to investigate.
