About 850 cyclists raced for the title of best in Texas in the Texas State Championships held at Fort Hood, Texas on a 33-mile looped course completely closed to traffic. Races were 33, 66 and 99 miles. Cycling enthusiasts of all ages and experience levels gathered for the chance to compete in the 7th annual 2015 Fort Hood Challenge Saturday and Sunday. Saturday’s races were grouped by skill levels while Sunday’s races were grouped by age. The youngest racer on Sunday was nine years old and the oldest racers were over 70 years old. Some racers competed twice in one day and/or in races both days.
