Corey Latrell Southard, 23, was sentenced on Wednesday to seven years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice – Institutional Division for an aggravated robbery on March 20, 2017, announced Coryell County District Attorney Dusty Boyd.
During that incident, Southard brandished a handgun, demanded money, and then fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of currency from the Copperas Hills Food Mart in Copperas Cove. Southard was identified as a suspect in that robbery and was later apprehended.
At this time, Southard will be transferred to Bell County, where he faces a felony probation revocation.
Southard was serving six years of probation for a felony evading with a vehicle from January 2016.
In November 2016, Southard had been arrested for breaking into a Killeen home and allegedly stealing video games, a gaming system, a speaker system and a streaming device, with his fingerprints being found at the scene. He had been arraigned at that time and held on a $50,000 bail. The gaming system was later located at a local game store, the speakers at a pawn shop.
