Locals have options for ringing in 2018

With less than one week left in 2017, Covites have a variety of options for ringing in the new year.
Newly renamed and under new ownership, TrackSide is hosting a pull-out-the-stops last evening of 2017 on New Year’s Eve.
Doors open at 3 p.m. with festivities to include music, drink specials, a 50-50 raffle and door prizes in the evening.
The night will round out with a champagne toast at midnight as the calendar flips over to 2018.
TrackSide is open from 3 p.m. until 2 a.m. daily, and is located at 301 Joes Rd.
Across town at Holy Family Catholic Church, there will be a party in its social hall. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $20 per person and includes a catered dinner by Liz DiSimoni, set-ups, party favors and champagne at midnight. Tickets are available in the parish office, which is located at 1001 Georgetown Rd.
VFW Post 8577 is celebrating the start of 2018 at the post, located at 1506 Veterans Ave. Admission is $5, with the night featuring snacks, live music from the Whiskey River Band, and breakfast served. The evening runs from 8:30 p.m. until 1:30 a.m.
VFW Post 3393, located at 424 CR 4931 in Kempner is having a New Year’s Eve Masquerade Ball from 7 p.m. until a balloon drop at midnight, with admission being $15 per couple and $10 for singles. On stage will be Greg Showman and the Back Creek Band. Admission includes free breakfast, with drink specials all night long. Tickets are available in advance at the post. Attire is semi-formal or formal, with the event being open to the public with valid ID.
