The Oakalla Library will be hosting a paranormal investigations class, led by Light Paranormal and Bluebonnet Paranormal Investigations, Friday evening at 7 p.m.
Bree Light, from Light Paranormal, and Mary Jo Fellows Fraley, from Bluebonnet Paranormal Investigations, have more than 10 years of experience in the field of paranormal study and investigations and will be at the Oakalla Library to share their experiences and show off the equipment they use.
Light shared that her late husband, Will Light, first introduced her to the subject approximately 10 years ago. After his passing, Fraley took Light under her wing and the two have gone ghost hunting ever since.
The two respond to calls where people are dealing with ghosts or paranormal presences in their homes, Light said. They also sometimes just go looking for ghosts.
They recently got back from the 78-room Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, known as the most haunted hotel in the country, and frequently go to the Book Cellar in Temple, Texas, which has had unusual activities reported there.
Light Paranormal is based in Temple, while Bluebonnet Paranormal is based in Moody.
“We mostly do public tours there where the public can come and kind of do what we’re doing on Friday, see how we do the investigations and learn,” Light said.
This evening, they will be showing off all the different equipment they use to seek out and communicate with ghosts, including an SLS camera, which is a camera that hooks up to an X-Box 360 that can be used to hunt for ghosts; a laser grid, which is pointed down a hallway to see ghosts; a ghost box, which is a radio that goes backwards for white noise that the ghost can talk with. Other equipment is a K2 Meter, which picks up electromagnetic energy; an Ovilus, which is an electronic speech-synthesis device that utters words depending on electromagnetic waves in the air. They also have a lot of tools from Paranologies, made by Jeremy Jones in Texas, that can pick up static electricity.
“They’re really the only ones that do and we used them a lot,” Light said.
Light said she and Fraley were really looking forward to Friday’s class.
“Me and my friends are all so excited for the opportunity to teach,” Light said. “I know personally, it was always one of my late husband’s dreams to teach classes on the paranormal because he had been doing it for over 30 years. He unfortunately never got to do it, so I am thankful for the opportunity to do it in his stead and honor his memory in a way. Between all of us, we have so much evidence to show off that we’re avid for people to see.”
This evidence includes EVPs, pictures, videos and personal experiences, Light said.
“We hope to put on a good show for people and leave them walking away wanting to go and do a couple paranormal investigations of their own,” Light added. “We just want people not to be scared of things that go bump in the night anymore, have a little bit more knowledge too.”
The Oakalla Library is located at 28981 FM 963, approximately 10 miles south of Copperas Cove off F.M. 2657.
