Local small businesses are hoping that this Saturday, the Saturday after Thanksgiving, shoppers will show up in force to show their support with their dollars during Small Business Saturday.
The Copperas Cove Chamber of Commerce has been busily signing up businesses to participate, and on Saturday at 9 a.m. the chamber is hosting a kickoff party at 90 Cove Terrace Shopping Center, with an appearance by Olaf, along with Santa Claus.
Among the businesses lined up are Pacific Tanning, Massage by Kat, Amy’s Attic Self Storage, Frames & Things, Crafty Finds, Keith Ace Hardware, Ledger Furniture, Taking Flight, Papa John’s Pizza, Candy Outfitters, Soggy Doggies, Jill Stein Independent Scentsy Consultant, A&L Florist, Skin Apeel, Babies ‘N Things, Cactus Lilly Boutique, Stackin Tees, and more.
Participating businesses will offer discounts and giveaways, goody bags, and more.
The Friday, Nov. 23 publication of the Copperas Cove Leader-Press will contain a map featuring local businesses to help shoppers make their way throughout Copperas Cove, both to discover new-to-them businesses and to support longtime favorites in the community. Maps will also be available at Saturday’s kickoff event with the chamber of commerce.
The Copperas Cove Chamber of Commerce has been registering businesses that are participating, with Small Business Saturday being a nationwide event, which is all about “Shopping Small”.
In 2010, American Express started Small Business Saturday, in an effort to support local shops and encourage people to bring more holiday shopping to small businesses.
