It might be 12-year-old Dalton Stafford’s first year participating in Lemonade Day, but he won the special designation of having the Most Unique Lemonade during the Greater Fort Hood Area Best Lemonade Contest on Saturday.

The Copperas Cove Leader-Press is sponsoring Dalton’s lemonade stand this weekend, Saturday, May 4 and Sunday, May 5, for Lemonade Day. The Leader-Press is located at 2210 E. Business 190, Suite 1, where "Palapa Tropicala" will be set up in the parking lot. Business hours on Saturday will be from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. and on Sunday, from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m.
Each paying customer will receive a free subscription to the Copperas Cove Leader-Press and have their name entered in a drawing to receive a prize package containing tickets to Schlitterbahn water park in New Braunfels.
Dalton has been a fan of Lemonade Day for several years, but this is his first year making the foray into being a young entrepreneur.
“My stand is going to have a tropical theme,” said Dalton. “I have been experimenting with a recipe and I’m making peach lemonade.”
He also plans to serve goodies such as white chocolate chunk macadamia nut cookies at his stand.
Part of the idea behind Lemonade Day is to encourage children to save some, spend some, and give some away.
Dalton’s focus to raise funds via his lemonade stand is for the ASPCA, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, or for an animal rescue or shelter.
He hopes to raise approximately $500 after paying off his investor.
“We have always had lots of animals in the family,” said Dalton’s aunt, Deana, with whom Dalton lives and is his lemonade stand investor.
Dalton will join more than a dozen young entrepreneurs in Copperas Cove who are opening lemonade stands this weekend.
