Local voters have spoken, and the city of Copperas Cove’s charter will see some changes. Eight propositions were passed by Copperas Cove voters, most by a wide margin and one by a narrow vote. Proposition 1 passed 2,604-735, with 726 under- votes among CopperasCove voters from Coryell County. It alsopassed with Cove voters in Lampasas County, 40- 6, with 6 under-votes. The amendment states that if both the mayor and mayor pro tem are absent from a meeting, council members can elect a chairperson as long there is a quorum. This chairperson member will have the authority to conduct the meeting as if he or she were the mayor, but will maintain the right to vote.
