Kempner woman dies from crash injuries

A 65-year-old Kempner woman died on January 30 from injuries she received in a January 17 four-vehicle crash that occurred shortly before 5 p.m. on the Highway 190 bypass south of Copperas Cove.
Roseann Lucidi was the driver of a vehicle that was one of three westbound vehicles that were struck by one driver. 
According to a press release from Sgt. David Roberts with the Texas Department of Public Safety, Bryan Rhudy, 40, of Killeen was driving eastbound in a 2016 Freightliner flatbed truck and struck the rear of a 2017 Dodge pickup which had stopped due to heavy traffic in the eastbound lane.  
The Freightliner then traveled across the center stripe into the oncoming westbound traffic, striking the left front of a westbound 2008 Nissan Altima, then striking the front of a 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe, being driven by Lucidi. 
Lucidi was transported to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Temple for her injuries, where she remained until she passed away. Rhudy was transported to Seton Medical Center by ambulance for possible injuries, according to Roberts.  
The driver of the Dodge pickup was Dustin Dewald, 49, of Copperas Cove and his passenger was Tiffany Dewald, 48, also of Copperas Cove. Neither were injured. Sarah Brown, 40, of Lampasas, was driving the Altima and she was transported to Metroplex Hospital for non-incapacitating injuries.
Roberts said the crash is still under investigation. 
“DPS urges motorists to avoid distracted, fatigued or impaired driving. Motorists also need to assure that they do not follow too closely to other vehicles,” Roberts added.
