Keep Copperas Cove Beautiful to hold 3rd annual Fall Sweep on Saturday

Cove Leader-Press staff

Keep Copperas Cove Beautiful is holding its 3rd Fall Sweep event on Saturday Sept. 25, starting at 8 a.m. and going until noon.
This year, the focus will be cleaning up City Park’s pond as well as City Park itself.
KCCB will provide safety vests, trash pickers, gloves, trash bags, and other needed supplies.
Volunteers should gather near the pond where they will receive supplies and instructions. This is a family-friendly event.
In addition to an opportunity to roll up their sleeves and get their hands dirty, volunteers will be treated to live entertainment throughout the morning, in the area of Fester’s House at the park.
There will also be vendors on hand for the event, and volunteers will also be treated to a free lunch after the cleanup is concluded.
Last year’s event had 89 volunteers turn out, who collected 440 pounds of trash.
KCCB and Copperas Cove joins other communities throughout the state of Texas for the annual Fall Sweep, spearheaded by Keep Texas Beautiful.
The Fall Sweep initiative runs from Saturday, Sept. 11, and goes through Nov. 20, which is the National Day of Service.
The endeavor is a way to clean up communities statewide, and KTB even helps localities provide supplies to clean up in a safe, responsible manner.
Fall Sweep events are held in public areas such as parks, schools, main streets and downtown areas, watershed areas and roadways.
Next up for KCCB events is another Worm Composting Class the evening of Tuesday, Oct. 16, followed by Texas Arbor Day, set for Saturday, Nov. 6. KCCB also has an “adopt a spot” initiative for groups to “adopt” a local neighborhood on park in Copperas Cove.
Those who are interested in volunteering at KCCB events can find out more by contacting KCCB’s Executive Director, Roxanne Flores-Achmad, at (254) 547-4221 Ext. 6704, or by emailing rflores-achmad@copperascovetx.gov
