The Copperas Cove Independent School District announced late Thursday afternoon the hiring of Kurtis Quillin as the new Director of Communications and Public Information Officer.
Quillin joins the district after seven years at KCEN Channel 6, where he is the Sports Director. During his time at the station, he has won a number of awards.
“Kurtis has spent his life around education, and his wife, mom and mother-in-law are all educators. He is a 2016 graduate of Oklahoma State University, where the faculty named him top senior on the School of Media & Strategic Communications’ Sports Media-Multimedia Journalism degree track,” the district’s statement said.
“I’m incredibly excited for this new opportunity to work with another area I care deeply about,” Quillin said. “I can’t wait to get started and work with everybody to showcase the great things happening in Bulldawg Country. My mom was a student at Cove when she was in high school and I’m excited to join a community that means so much to my family.”
Quillin starts at CCISD on Monday, Aug. 7.
