Two new faces and a one-year incumbent will take their oaths of office for the Copperas Cove city council on Tuesday, Dec. 6.
Incumbent Shawn Alzona will begin his first full three-year term on Place 3 of the Copperas Cove city council when he is sworn in on Tuesday, Dec. 6. He first took office in November 2021 after winning that election and filled the remaining time on Place 3, when Dan Yancey vacated the position to run for mayor.
Also on Tuesday, John Hale will be sworn in to Place 4 on the city council, with incumbent Jay Manning already having served two 3-year terms. This will be Hale’s first term in office.
Place 5 will also see a new face, with Manuel “Monty” Montanez to be sworn in for his first term in that position. Incumbent Dianne Yoho Campbell withdrew from the race after serving for one term.
A reception will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 6, at 4 p.m. in the city council chambers to recognize Manning and Campbell for their terms of service. The chambers are located at 508 S. 2nd St.
