Following a record year of attendance at the annual Rabbit Fest celebration, the Chamber of Commerce requested $237,550 of the $182,656 available from the Hotel Occupancy Tax fund to help promote tourism for their 10 events hosted in 2015. Council awarded the Chamber $126,000, a 25 percent increase over the funds received for 2014.

Council dishes out funds from Hotel Occupancy Tax and General Fund.

Following a vote on the proposed tax rate, members of the Copperas Cove City Council dished out funds from both the general fund to the sum of $36,904 to four agencies while $146,375 was issued from the $182,656 available in the Hotel Occupancy Tax fund. The Hill Country Transit District requested $30,404 while the Noon Exchange Club asked for $2,500, along with Hill Country Community Action. Amanda Stephens requested $1,500 for the Lemonade Day project. Council opted to deny the requests for funds from the Boys and Girls Club of Central Texas and the Cove House Clinic. The Boys and Girls Clubrequested $5,000 for transportation related matters.  Their application states “The funds provided will be used to help with our transportation expenses. Our vehicle maintenance and fuel expenses for 2013 were $14,281.27.
