FULL HOUSE

Hoarders’ house on Veterans foreclosed on, being emptied

By LYNETTE SOWELL

2305 Veterans Ave. is a three-bedroom, 1-1/2-bath home like many others in the nearly 40-year-old section of Copperas Cove, and those who passed by it on Friday saw a growing mountain of belongings to include furniture, boxes of papers, videotapes, toys, an antique sewing machine, collectibles, musical instruments and other miscellaneous possessions of the former occupants, all packed into the approximately 1,160 square feet of space.

Neighbors say the house has been vacant for at least five years, but it is definitely not empty.

Robert Herrings Jr. with Century 21 Premier Realtors was at the property on Friday. He is acting on behalf of the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation which is now responsible for the foreclosed property.

Herrings, along with Coryell County constable Guy Beveridge, watched as a team of movers emptied several rooms on Friday, piling the items into a massive mound on the front yard. At least two more rooms in the house as well as the kitchen and a shed in the backyard are still jam-packed with more “stuff” to be removed.
