The first-ever Five Hills Anime Fest that was to be held in Copperas Cove, was abruptly canceled two days before the event set for Saturday and Sunday, March 9 and 10, at the Copperas Cove Civic Center.
According to the event’s Facebook page, the event organizers on the evening of March 6 announced the cancelation.
Michael Aker, one of the people managing the event, said that those who preordered tickets will be refunded, and after 10 business days if not received reach out to fivehillsanimefest@yahoo.com.
VIP tickets were sold for $50, weekend passes for $20, Saturday tickets $15 and Sunday tickets $12.
No reason was given for the cancelation.
This was the first event of its kind for the community. Fans of the Japanese animation genre will dress up as their favorite characters, have the opportunity to meet voice actors, and also have the opportunity to shop vendors.
“Unfortunately, Five Hills Anime Fest was canceled due to things out of my control,” Aker said online.
