First Presbyterian Church holds Blessing of the Animals

 By KATHLEEN STARLING In conjunction with the Delightful Dogs & Kids program held Friday, First Presbyterian Church held its first Blessing of the Animals Sunday afternoon. Friday’s Delightful Dogs & Kids event  ave over 100 local daycare children the opportunity to learn how to treat service dogs. With the help of Patriot Paws and Texas Humane Heroes, children learned about the care and responsibility involved with a dog, and differences in how you approach an on-duty service dog and someone’s household pet.Animal Blessings are a common part of many churches, and often held in October in observance of St. Francis of Assisi’s  Feast Day, Saint Francis being the patron saint of animals and the environment.
