With temperatures soon to drop well below freezing the rest of this week, Fairview Community Church in Copperas Cove is opening its doors at noon on Thursday as a warming center, for those who might need a place to go.
The church is located at 1202 Veterans Ave.
Pastor Mike Harrigan said all are welcome to come and get warm, and he expects to keep the church open as a warming center until Monday, or even Tuesday, depending on the dips in the temperature outside.
“They can bring anything they need, we will provide warm/cold beverages and food,” Harrigan said of those who may go to the church.
The church also welcomes any donations, such as food or other items.
Harrigan said they are specifically looking for cots to set up a sleeping area.
“We will be open at noon on Thursday and they just need to show up,” he said.
